Sequoia Bear Cub

Shallow depth of field

Afternoon light in Sequoia. I was watching for a while, hoping something would move. Then I saw her, a black bear, and this little one right behind her, scrambling up this mossy trunk.

This cub was pure energy. It paused, looked up like it heard something, or just deciding its next move up the bark. The way its fur catches the light, the vibrant moss on the tree – all just right.

Didn't have long, these moments pass quick. Got a few frames, but this one, with the soft light and that curious, upward glance, that's the one that sticks.
