Baby Gators Morning

I was out early in the Loxahatchee Slough wildlife area, like I often am. It’s a favorite spot, practically my backyard, and mornings there are always special. The air was still cool, the sun just starting to really warm things up.

Then I spotted these two. Right there, tucked in the edge of the water, a patch of young plants around them. The light was coming in low, catching their scales just right, making them glow against the darker water behind them. You don't always get this kind of light on wildlife.

One little gator was resting on the back of the other, just chilling. They were so still, barely moved, just soaking up that morning warmth. It’s moments like these, quiet and undisturbed, that I really hike for.
