Quiet Water Arch

Long exposure

I remember this hike along the Oregon Coast. The air had that damp, salty chill to it, just what you expect out here. We found this spot, and I knew right away I needed to get the camera out.

The waves were coming in pretty strong, but the light was soft, almost diffused by the clouds. I loved the arch, how it framed the ocean beyond. I figured a long exposure would really highlight that contrast, calm everything down.

So, I set up the shot. Waited for the right moment between sets of waves. The long exposure just smoothed out the churning water into that misty, ethereal flow. It really transformed the scene, almost like painting with time.
